Search Function

I'm sure this has been covered, but since I cannot master the search function, I can't find it! I checked the FAQ, but not there. I looked at the "search tips", but it did not have a basic tutorial on this site's search function. When I tried to search "all words" in "title only" and typed in yanmar and oil, the titles returned had neither word. I tried separating the two words by a comma, but got the same results. I have learned from bitter experience that different forums have very proprietary ways of searching. Where can I fiind a tutorial on how to word my searches so I get what I am looking for?

Sorry about that. the search is really as easy as it looks, no tutorial is needed. However, the search tips did not include an important parameter: keywords must be four characters or longer. "Oil" will be ignored.

We're aware that this is a problem and are working on a solution. In fact, we're working on finding a faster, more accurate search function.

Thanks Phil. I noted the short word limitation after I posted. Just to make sure I understand, no connector is required between words? For example, after reading some posts in the headmistress forum, I wanted to find out the preferred material for a holding tank replacement. I put in the words, holding tank, but got nothing. I am guessing should be numerous posts in that forum with those words in the title or body. Should it be "holding + tank", or "holding and tank"?

Using HunterOwners.com, the Search tab, I entered 'holding tank" (without the quotes), selected "all words", title, and head Mistress forum and got 252 matches.

The buttons for any words, all words, or exact phrase do the boolean stuff for you so there's no need to use the + sign or "and".

If it still doesn't work send me a screen shot of your settings. Sorry! Help is coming soon.
